Build HR Capability in Your Business

Managing people well is one of the most challenging aspects of running a business. When people issues aren’t handled early or confidently, they can escalate quickly - creating risk, affecting culture and diverting time away from core business priorities.

This 12-month HR capability workshop program has been developed to support local businesses across the Temora and Bland Shires to strengthen people management capability and build more confident, effective workplaces.

About the program

Temora Shire Council and Bland Shire Council have partnered with Total HRM to design and deliver this workshop series in response to common people management challenges identified by local businesses. Rather than offering one-off training sessions, the councils have invested in a structured, longer-term program that builds HR capability progressively over time.

The purpose of the program is to equip employers, managers and people leaders with the confidence, skills and judgement to manage people issues early, fairly and effectively, while supporting compliant and sustainable workplace practices. The content has been tailored to reflect the realities of operating a business in a regional context and focuses on practical application rather than theory.

What the workshops cover

Across 12 monthly workshops, participants will build HR capability across key areas of the employee lifecycle, including:

  • HR foundations and compliance essentials
  • Onboarding, retention and workplace culture
  • Performance management and difficult conversations
  • Workplace relations, disciplinary processes and termination
  • Leadership capability and emotional intelligence
  • Wellbeing and psychosocial risk
  • Workforce planning and future capability needs

Each workshop is discussion-based and practical, with tools and resources provided to support immediate application in the workplace.

The first workshop is scheduled for 26 February. Future dates to be determined by the group.

Program structure

  • 12 monthly workshops, 2.5 hours per session
  • Delivered over 12 months with a fixed session schedule
  • Participant numbers are limited to support meaningful discussion and learning
  • Catch-up resources available if a session is missed

Program cost

This HR capability workshop series is delivered as a 12-month program, with participants committing to the full series of workshops. The investment for the program is $4,800, with monthly instalment options available to support cash flow. A discounted rate of $4,560 applies when the full program is paid upfront, and a 50% group discount is available for additional participants from the same business. This pricing reflects the structured, progressive nature of the program and the ongoing, facilitated support provided throughout the year.
